Electronic heat and cold meters: Minocal C5 B.One series
Brunata Minol relies on state-of-the-art electronic heat and cold meters for precise measurement of heat and cold energy consumption in buildings.
Electronic heat and cold meters from Brunata Minol
Electronic heat meters and cold meters (also known as "thermal energy meters") precisely measure individual energy consumption in heating systems, thus providing a reliable basis for heating cost billing. Thanks to digital and remotely readable technology, they support landlords and property managers in complying with legal requirements and increasing the energy efficiency of buildings.
Why are these counters important?
In apartment buildings and larger properties, many users share a central heating system. Without precise metering technology, a fair distribution of energy costs would be virtually impossible. Modern meters record the actual heat consumption of each unit, thus enabling fair, consumption-based billing.
Furthermore, they provide valuable information about the condition and efficiency of the heating system. Deviations or unusually high consumption are therefore detected early, allowing owners and managers to take targeted countermeasures.
Electronic meters are very precise and meet all the requirements of the German Heating Costs Ordinance (HKVO). Modern models feature radio technology or IoT interfaces and can therefore be read remotely without the need for on-site reading.

Remotely readable heat and cold meters are an important component of energy-efficient buildings. They create transparency and thus enable tenants to better understand and adjust their energy consumption.
All benefits at a glance:
- Transparent consumption data: Regular evaluations reveal potential savings.
- Optimized heating systems: Owners can identify inefficient systems or malfunctions more quickly.
- Energy saving: Studies show that consumption-based billing can reduce heating energy consumption by up to 20%.
- Promoting climate goals: Electronic heat meters contribute to the reduction of CO₂ emissions in the building sector.
Implementation of the current heating cost regulations
According to the Heating Costs Ordinance, costs in centrally heated buildings must be billed according to consumption. Since the 2021 amendment to the Heating Costs Ordinance, the following applies:
- Newly installed heat meters must be remotely readable.
- Existing devices must be retrofitted by the end of 2026.
- From 2027 onwards, only remotely readable systems will be permitted.
Landlords and property managers must therefore switch to electronic, remotely readable heat meters by the end of 2026 to comply with legal deadlines and benefit from digital advantages. These devices form the basis for fair, efficient, and future-proof heating cost billing. They combine precision with digital technology and thus actively contribute to saving energy and reducing CO₂ emissions.
