How to make money with tenant electricity
Direct consumption: You can sell the electricity your tenants use directly from the roof. The price must be 10% below the local basic supply tariff, so you generate revenue from every kilowatt-hour your tenants consume.
Tenant electricity surcharge: For every kilowatt-hour of electricity from your PV system, you can receive a legally permissible additional surcharge. This increases your profit without significantly increasing your tenants' payments.
Residual electricity margin: If your system doesn't generate enough electricity, your tenants will draw power from the grid. You can also make a small profit on this by keeping the difference between the purchase price and the selling price.
Basic fees: These are fixed monthly charges that are incurred regardless of electricity consumption. As the system operator, you only pay the basic fee for the electricity connection once. At the same time, all participating tenants pay a monthly basic fee. This generates regular and predictable income, independent of individual electricity consumption.
Grid feed-in: Excess electricity that is not consumed directly flows into the public grid. You receive compensation from the grid operator for every kilowatt-hour fed into the grid.
